I’m an entertainer from Washington DC{the best city in the world}. I was first introduced to the world on MTV's Making the Band 4. I made it to the finale and didn't make the group, Day 26 and was later signed to BadBoy Records. I was recently released from that situation and re-signed to a label named New Horizon/Triumphant Entertainment and gearing up for the release of my single this September and album this December. What inspired you to get into the music business? At an early age, I found a love for music. I was always singing and performing in school or around DC. As I got older my love intensely grew. I began getting into more things gaining recognition amongst my peers. It was a dream from the beginning and with confirmations throughout the years, allowed me to know that I was guaranteed a spot in the music business. The MTB4 experience was a time in my life that I cherish and will carry with me forever. I walked into another world when going on that show. I was inspired as an artist in so many ways and by so many people. One of the biggest things that I value was the relationship I built amongst the guys on the show. It was so many spiritual things that went on. God worked so viciously through the dudes on the show. I was amongst one of the most powerful guys in the business{Puff}.The way he had things set up on the show allowed me to gain a work ethic that I carried with me since the show and now. I met some amazing people like Anhkra {vocal coach} whose now my Godfather and mentor. All the folks Puff had to help us really gave me the tools that I feel will always help me along my journey in this business. I tell people all the time that MTB4 gave me a solid foundation on what it takes, A lot has changed for me since the show, for the good and bad. Of course I became what we all as kids dream about, "famous". It often tripped me out and even still today how famous I really have became. After not making the band, it wasn't expected for me to become this celebrity to people. I tell folks all of the time, how my situation just don't seem normal, maybe because it was me that lived it. I have hardcore fans based off that show, even girls crying when they see me. Guys walking up to me telling me how I'm there role model. I'm standing there like "Are you serious?". Not that it doesn't feel good but honestly I didn't expect for things to be on the level they're on since the show. I've had my fair share of BS also. Folks being fake around me due to the fame I received from the show. It’s all-good, because I've grown to know how to handle it but and can be mind wrecking sometimes. Always questioning people’s motives and thoughts. I thank God for allowing me to go through certain things since the show, dealing with these humans. It has only prepared me for what’s to come as my success and fame grow. Overall it’s been a fun ride since the show. I've met folks and built relationships with some of the best artist, traveled, got paid to walk through clubs, performing in different cities all because folks love me from MTB I would say its been difficult adjusting. As artist, we just like to do what we love. The business side is a whole other world. Seeing how everything is political, maybe a year and a half ago, was hard for me to understand. I've learned a lot and I’m keeping my ears and mind open to learn more. It’s a tricky business. Seeing how the music plays such a small role in the situation was hard for me to adjust to as well. It’s so many things that us as artist in this business have to go through. Sitting on a major label for these past few years, I have seen and learned so much about how the business of the industry flow. Interesting question. How do I answer that due to the different styles that I feel I bring. I'm of course RnB, but I'm gospel also. I can bring a Hip-Hop edge at times. As a person I’m very confident and bold. I think my music reflects the same characteristics as well. No matter what style of song I sing or write, I give it a certainty that allows people to feel my music.
I've just recently got out of my contract wit BadBoy Records and re-signed to a great independent label name New Horizon/Triumphant Entertainment. We are gearing up for my single featuring my future wife "Trina"{JUST JOKING} due out this September. Its a great song named "Single life" produced by some good friends of mine "Starmakers" based out of D.C. I’m excited to have Trina on the track. Its gonna be crazy. I’ll be releasing my album shortly after this December.
At this point in my career I just want readers to be on the lookout. After the world gets a chance to get into my music, they'll know all they need to know and will hopefully stick with me for the rest of my career. What is your craziest "Where dey do dat at" story? I’ve had so many of those that I honestly can’t point out just one. Ladies have done some crazy stuff to get near me. I’ve seen even crazier stories than the ones I’ve experienced with sum of my celebrityrity friends that’s further along than myself. I’m always thinking "where they do that at" when we on the road, but I often find out that they do it where I’m at. Lol Interviewed By: Jameelah Wilkerson
